State Rep. Tom Weber took to the House floor to express his sentiments regarding the closure of St. Bede School in Ingleside. Weber shared, "Speaking on the House floor, State Rep. Tom Weber expressed frustration and sadness for the families and students of St. Bede School in Ingleside."
The closure of the school comes as a result of the state's decision not to extend the Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which provided financial assistance to around 15% of the students at St. Bede's. Weber highlighted this issue, stating, "The school announced that due in part to the state’s failure to extend the Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarship Program for low-income students, which funded approximately 15% of students at St. Bede’s, the school will be forced to close at the end of this school year."
This development has left many families and students in a state of uncertainty and has drawn attention to the impact of legislative decisions on educational institutions and their communities.
